A variety of guided tours are available, offering visitors the opportunity to explore Kakola's fascinating history. Please note that the tours do not include access to any original prison cells. All tours are conducted in Finnish.
English-language tours are mentioned separately.

There is no need to reserve tickets for the tours in advance. Tickets are bought at Hotel Kakola.

County prison tour
The County Prison Tour introduces visitors to Hotel Kakola's history as a former prison. The tour lasts approximately one hour and takes place inside the hotel. Please note that the tour does not include any original prison cells. Due to the nature of the stories shared during the tour, it is not recommended for young children. Please note that the tours are in Finnish unless otherwise stated.

Kakola walk for the whole family
The Kakola walk for the whole family takes you around Kakola's courtyard, hears about the daily life of the prison and sees the most exciting escapes. The hour's rounds of stories are aimed at children and they are outside the whole time, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the tours are in Finnish unless otherwise stated.

Kakola hill tour
The Kakola Hill Tour explores the history of Kakola by taking visitors around the former prison grounds within the prison walls, including some of the site's most famous escape locations. Part of the tour also takes place indoors, where guests can view historical photographs from the prison era and hear stories about everyday life in Finland's most notorious prison. The tour does not include access to any original prison cells. Due to the nature of the stories shared during the tour, it is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
