Arriving to Kakola
By car
The only way to reach the hotel by car is to drive from Sofiankatu to Kakolankatu. Once you turn to Kakolankatu, you can see the red brick hotel building up the hill.
Parking
- Parking on Kakolanmäki takes place in the parking garage on the west side of the hotel (address: Kakolankatu 19). The finishing of the parking garage is still in progress, but two floors have already been opened for parking. Parking is chargeable.
- In front of the hotel, there are parking spots for short-term parking.
- City roadside parking in Port Arthur (free, subject to availability).
- Charging points for electric cars can be found in the parking garage. The parking garage has 80 charging points operated by Plugit.
By train
It is about 1.5 kilometers from Turku Central Station to Hotel Kakola. The journey can be made in a few minutes by car and a quarter of an hour on foot.
- Leave along Ratapihankatu towards the port.
- Continue all the way to the intersection of Puistokatu and then turn left.
- After a couple of blocks, turn right onto Puutarhakatu and immediately after one block, turn left onto Sairashuoneenkatu.
- At the next intersection, turn right onto Sofiankatu.
- Kakolankatu rises from Sofiankatu up to Kakolanmäki. The red brick hotel can be seen up on the hill.
By bus
The bus line to the Kakola Hill is line no. 1 (the route from the airport to the harbour). The bus stop for Kakola is no. 49. It stops right in front of the funicular. Once you are up on the Kakola Hill you will see the red brick hotel building on the right. There is a 300 m walk from the funicular to the hotel.
Walk to the end of the gray granite castle and continue straight through Lohrmanninaukio and Kivimäenpuisto down the slope to the hotel gate.
From harbour
- Approx. 2 km Linnankatu
- Turn left onto Sairaanhuonekatu
- Walk 350 m and turn left (first intersection) onto Sofiankatu
- Turn left again at the first intersection onto Kakolankatu after 250m
- The red brick hotel can be seen up on the hill
By plane
The distance from the Turku Airport to the hotel is 10 km. You can take a taxi or the bus no. 1. It will take you directly from the airport to the Kakola Funicular (see directions from the funicular to the hotel).
By funiculare
Hotel Kakola is approx. 300m from the upper station of the Funicular in the direction of the center (turn right when coming from the Funicular).
- The funicular is free of charge
- Funiculare is open from 4.30 am to 1 am on weekdays and from 5 am to 12 pm on weekends
